Malinyi District Council is one of 9 Councils of Morogoro region covering a total area of 9,979.9 km² which is 14 percent of the regional area of 73,039 km². It borders Namtumbo District (Ruvuma region) and Njombe District to the south, Ulanga and Liwale Districts to the east and Kilombero District to the northwest. It is found Southern of the Morogoro region about 370 km from Morogoro Regional Headquarters. Administratively, Malinyi is divided into three (3) divisions, 10 Wards, 33 villages and 164 sub-villages
